With the addition of current love interests, the gang is getting bigger and the booth at McClaren’s is busting at the seams. From the looks of it, the seating situation isn’t the only thing they’re outgrowing. A baby on the way, a serious relationship in the works and a new boyfriend are positive steps for the group, but at the same time are threatening the existence of the gang as we know it. Barney having to wait for sex? Ted and Robin not being inappropriately close? These are simply not the friends we have come to know and love. Maybe it was only a matter of time, but some of these changes seem to have been accelerated by the inclusion of Robin’s therapist boyfriend, Kevin. His presence is altering more than just Robin’s relationship status. The constant semi-psychological analyses of Robin’s buds are bringing up some issues that might finally need to be addressed. Topping the list of Kevin’s concerns is Ted and Robin’s relationship. Is he just a jealous boyfriend or does he have a point? Either way, it’s clear that the roommates are teetering on the edge of too close for comfort. Exes going to a concert together might seem harmless, but when you add in the fact that they live together and have had not one, but two love interests show concern over their closeness, it’s hard not to wonder if there might be something there. Distancing themselves from one another might not be the solution but it’s clear that things can’t go on as they have; especially when a certain baker believes the relationship is stunting Ted’s growth. With changes afoot for the whole group, it might finally be time for Ted and Robin to sort out their situation.
